Dr Deepak Kumar is an academic research professional with experience of over 10 years in academic research and over 08 years in PG teaching in the field of remote sensing, analytical research methods, geospatial technology applications, and urban planning. He is presently working as a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist at SUNY, Albany, New York, USA. He is also associated with AMITY University Uttar Pradesh, Noida, India as an Assistant Professor. He has completed two government-sponsored research projects as sole principal investigator namely “Hybrid Urban Landscape Analysis for Green Smart Cities through Geospatial Technology” sponsored by the Science and Engineering Research Board, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, and “Meta-sensing of the urban footprint from airborne synthetic aperture radar (ASAR) data” sponsored from Space Applications Centre (ISRO), Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. He has been revisiting a wide range of issues associated with traditional research activities but has his own ingest of thinking on other non-traditional/challenging areas/topics for the exchange of research activities. More preciously his teaching and research interests lie around Spatial Information Science, Spatial Data modelling and Analysis, Spatio-temporal Data Management & Geovisualization, Spatial and Fractal computing, Spatial Predictive analytics, Spatial cognition, and Geoprivacy. As principal investigator of government-funded R & D projects, he has been involved in project development and management, laboratory management, supervision, and teaching of undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph. D. Students and researchers, training of other researchers, publication, and grant writing. Dr Kumar has directed cross-functional & research teams using interactive & motivational leadership; acknowledged for coaching, guiding & mentoring team members to achieve resource-wise productivity & optimization. Has leveraged skills in analysing collected information comparing several types of research data and engaging in safe research activities; specializes in urban research, having worked on the development of techniques and methods for monitoring of urban landscape. He encourages researchers to develop skills, knowledge, and experience, in aspects of research management such as budget & project management, teaching, publication & conference appearances, outreach activities, and membership in committees.
