The course provides a foundation for addressing rural development as a field of scientific enquiry. The course centers on rural areas in the global North, with rural Europe and Sweden as a particular focus. Through the course you will develop your ability to relate your individual research project to issues of rural structural transformations, rural governance, territory and access, gender relations, migration and indigenous perspectives.
3,5 weeks of reading and writing, and classes in Uppsala 2–3 November, and in Åkersberga 5–8 November.
