Building Together: Enhancing European and African Collaboration in Research and Innovation

On 27 November 2024, the European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes (EADI) is hosting a conference at the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Pavia, Italy.

In today’s interconnected world, sustainable partnerships in research and innovation between Europe and Africa are crucial. It is against this backdrop that the conference brings together leading professors from both continents, public institution representatives, and key European networks like EADI and the Coimbra Group’s “Global Partnership” to explore joint solutions for global challenges.

Focused on critical areas like climate change, public health, technology, and sustainable development, the event will also feature the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation. Sub-Saharan Africa has always been at the forefront of Italy’s development cooperation activities, as highlighted by the government’s recent “Mattei Plan for Africa”. The plan is inspired by a cooperation model based on equal partnership and shared development to address multiple global challenges together.

This conference represents an important step toward strengthening networks and driving collaborative research that supports innovation, growth, and shared solutions across Europe and Africa.
